I am a violin girl.

I had studied piano for 2 years and some music theory in 2010-2012. My violin study also started 7 years ago and I have studied with many good teachers. They include my dad Xiang Gao; Mr. Jonathan Carney of the Baltimore Symphony; Professor Paul Kantor of the Rice University; and Professor James Stern of the University of Maryland.

“Samantha Gao is a gifted young violinist with great ability and talent….she is bright, engaging and charming.”

Jonathan Carney

Concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra

“Samantha Gao is a masterful young violinist, with considerable experience in solo, chamber, and leadership roles. She has enormous potential in my opinion.”

Dr. James Stern

Professor of Violin, University of Maryland College Park

“Ms. Gao shows great promise as a violinist and an artist. I was most impressed with her ability to focus and concentrate on difficult musical issues as well as her clear aptitude in assimilating new ideas.”

Paul Kantor

Sallie Shepherd Perkins Professor of Violin, The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University

I have performed at my own schools, at music festivals, concert series, and at the University of Delaware. I made my first music video while hiking in Arches National Park this year. I enjoy playing in my Una Voce String Quartet and playing in school orchestra as concert master. I hope you will enjoy some of the sample videos of my recent concerts.

My big music project now is to prepare for a Carnegie hall performance of a violin duet with my dad in February of 2019. For that, I must practice hard. (Even though I really don’t like to practice while my friends get to rest or play computer games, but I will try my best).
