Music @ Hospital Project

I am a volunteer to play music at hospitals as a part of the new Master Players @ Christiana Care (MPCC) concert series project. I also help the professional musicians to have a smooth concert there every month. This will make the patients, doctors and nurses happy in their stressful work and treatment.

This new series uses music to connect patients, their families, doctors and nurses. The free-of-charge concerts offers music to them because they do not have opportunities to attend concerts due to their very busy schedule for treatment and physical limitations. I think the music will help the patients with their pain and discomfort and create good changes in mood and emotional support. The music will also make the doctors and nurses feel happier after a long stressful day. For people who have babies at the Christiana hospital, the music will also celebrate their happy news.

What I do as a volunteer:

  • Perform solo and chamber music
  • Recruit my friends and classmates to volunteer at MP@C
  • Help set up stage for the professional musicians as concert crew
  • Bring professional musicians snacks and coffee
  • Help distributing program books to audience
  • Talk to patients about the music and musicians featured to show my care
  • Watch musicians’ belongings
  • Take photos and videos of the concerts
